A 42-year-old Florida man has been arrested after claiming to be a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent during a traffic stop for suspected drunk driving in the Florida Keys.

Bodycam footage released by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office shows deputies confronting the driver, identified as Scott Thomas Deiseroth, after observing erratic driving behavior. During the stop, Deiseroth allegedly identified himself as an ICE officer in an attempt to avoid arrest. Authorities later confirmed he has no affiliation with any federal agency.

Deputies reported finding two young children in the car at the time of the stop, heightening the seriousness of the charges. Deiseroth was taken into custody and now faces multiple counts, including DUI and child endangerment.

“The safety of the children was our top concern,” the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement, adding that the kids were safely turned over to relatives following the arrest.

The incident has drawn public attention not only for the impersonation claim but also for the growing number of DUI cases involving minors in Florida. Authorities emphasized that falsely representing oneself as a federal officer is a serious offense that can lead to additional charges under state and federal law.
