Colorado authorities have charged 30 individuals, including multiple members of the Venezuelan-based Tren de Aragua gang, in connection with a sweeping law enforcement operation that exposed a series of brutal crimes.

Among the charges is a chilling murder-for-hire scheme, in which several defendants allegedly agreed to kill two people and return their severed heads as proof of the murders. Officials say the case highlights not only the severity of the crimes but also the escalating presence of violent transnational gangs within the United States.

Tren de Aragua, identified by the U.S. Treasury Department as a “transnational criminal organization,” has increasingly expanded operations beyond Venezuela, according to a 2024 Telemundo investigation. The group is notorious for its involvement in drug trafficking, extortion, and human smuggling.

Law enforcement leaders in Colorado emphasized that the charges reflect a broader effort to dismantle organized criminal networks before they can tighten their grip on local communities. The arrests, they said, should serve as a warning to other criminal organizations attempting to establish themselves in the U.S.

This case marks one of the most significant crackdowns on Tren de Aragua’s operations inside the country, underscoring the growing challenge posed by international criminal groups with violent tactics.
