During the latest Cabinet meeting, key members of President Trump’s administration detailed efforts to stop questionable spending and shift federal priorities back toward merit and accountability.

Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick revealed that just days before President Trump took office, officials in the Commerce Department attempted to funnel billions out of taxpayer funds.
“Four days before you took office, U.S. Department of Commerce, which had the CHIPS money, they set up… a make-believe not-for-profit. They signed contracts to wire them $7.4 billion,” Lutnick explained. “We stopped the payment. We’ve got the money.”

On defense matters, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth emphasized a cultural reset within the U.S. military, moving away from what he called years of politicized agendas.
“We happen to be the largest employer in America… and for decades, it was social justice, it was political correctness, it was divisive ideologies… NO MORE. Now, it is only merit-based… Sir, you’ve enabled that,” Hegseth said.

The meeting highlighted a recurring theme in Trump’s administration: halting wasteful spending, rejecting ideologically driven programs, and re-centering the federal government on efficiency, merit, and results.
