Authorities in Volusia County, Florida, arrested a man who attempted to impersonate a licensed nurse during a job interview as part of an undercover sting operation.
Deputies identified the suspect as 55-year-old Joseph Thomas Kinney, who allegedly used another person’s nursing credentials to apply for multiple healthcare positions across Central Florida.
The sting was coordinated by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, which had been investigating Kinney’s attempts to secure jobs in the medical field without proper qualifications.
Officials emphasized the serious risks posed by individuals falsely presenting themselves as medical professionals, noting that such actions put patients’ lives and safety in jeopardy.
Kinney is now facing multiple charges, and investigators are reviewing whether he had previously worked in medical facilities under false pretenses.
