New details have emerged surrounding the crash of a private jet carrying Libya’s Army Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Mohammed al-Haddad, following official travel between Libya and Turkey. The aircraft went down on December 23, 2025, shortly after reporting a technical malfunction while returning from Ankara.

According to flight tracking data and satellite-based visuals circulating online, the jet departed Tripoli en route to Ankara for official talks before beginning its return journey toward Libya. Minutes after takeoff on the return leg, the crew reported an emergency malfunction, after which the aircraft crashed near Ankara.

A short video tracing the flight path illustrates the sequence of events, showing the outbound route in green, the attempted return flight, and a red marker indicating the crash location. The visual timeline aligns with statements released by both Turkish and Libyan authorities, confirming the aircraft’s trajectory and the timing of the incident.

Officials have not indicated foul play, emphasizing that early findings point to a technical failure rather than external interference. Investigators are now working to examine wreckage, flight data, and maintenance records to determine the precise cause of the malfunction.

The crash has drawn significant attention due to Lt. Gen. al-Haddad’s senior role within Libya’s military leadership and the sensitive nature of his official visit. Turkish and Libyan officials have pledged full cooperation in the investigation as additional information is gathered.

As authorities continue to assess the incident, the crash underscores the risks associated with military and diplomatic air travel and highlights the importance of aircraft safety and rapid emergency response protocols.
