The Israel Defense Forces have confirmed the seizure of over 85,000 weapons from Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon during the December 2024 conflict, marking one of the largest post-war arms recoveries in the region. The cache included 6,840 rocket-propelled grenades, 5,560 firearms, and 9,000 explosive devices spread across more than 30 villages, according to IDF reports and corroborated by the Jerusalem Post.

Drone footage released by the IDF provides a detailed look at outdoor stockpiles of crates, missiles, and assorted equipment being cataloged by Israeli personnel. The images visually illustrate that while the captured arsenal is substantial, it likely represents only a fraction of Hezbollah’s total pre-war holdings, indicating the group still possesses significant capabilities.

The operation highlights both the scale of Hezbollah’s weaponization in southern Lebanon and the challenges Israel faces in neutralizing these threats. Analysts note that even with this haul, the organization retains the capacity to rearm and continue operations, underscoring the ongoing security concerns in the region.

Israeli officials have emphasized that significant work remains to fully secure the border area, remove residual stockpiles, and prevent the resurgence of militant activity. The seizure is a critical step toward regional stabilization, but it also serves as a reminder of the persistent threat posed by Hezbollah’s extensive weapons infrastructure.
