Federal agents were seen surrounding a storage facility in Salem, New Hampshire, on the night of December 19, 2025, as part of an intense manhunt connected to the Brown University shooting that left two students dead and nine others wounded.

Real-time footage from the scene showed FBI agents in tactical gear establishing a wide perimeter around the facility, with more than 20 law enforcement vehicles blocking access points and flashing emergency lights illuminating the area. Armed officers were observed coordinating movements, and a robotic device appeared to be deployed, indicating a high-risk operation.

Authorities linked the location to Claudio Manuel Neves Valente, a 48-year-old suspect identified in the December 13 shooting at Brown University. Valente was also suspected in the killing of an MIT professor in Brookline, Massachusetts, days later, prompting a multi-state manhunt involving federal, state, and local agencies across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.

The Salem operation marked a critical moment in the search, as law enforcement narrowed in on Valente’s last known movements. Hours after the footage emerged, officials confirmed that Valente was found dead inside the storage facility from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, bringing the three-day manhunt to an end.

Investigators continue to review evidence collected from the storage unit and the earlier crime scenes to establish a complete timeline and determine motive. Authorities have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public, while the case has reignited scrutiny over campus security, inter-agency coordination, and the handling of violent threats linked to educational institutions.
