A powerful storm swept through the Monsey area over the past several hours, causing significant damage after a large tree fell onto utility wires along Francis Place. The impact snapped an electrical pole in half, forcing authorities to close the roadway between Nancy Lane and Ronald Drive while emergency crews worked to secure the scene and assess the extent of the damage.

The incident has left more than 100 Orange & Rockland customers without electricity, creating disruptions for residents and businesses in the surrounding neighborhood. Utility crews have been dispatched to the area, but officials have not yet provided an estimated timeline for restoring power as they evaluate repairs to the damaged infrastructure.

Members of the Ramapo Police Department and the Monsey Fire Department responded quickly and remain on scene managing traffic, ensuring public safety, and assisting utility workers. The event serves as another reminder of the dangers severe weather can pose to critical infrastructure, particularly when high winds and falling trees impact power lines and transportation routes.
