PARIS — French President Emmanuel Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky have opened a new round of defense talks in Paris, signaling stronger international cooperation in support of Ukraine.
The discussions come under the framework of the so-called Coalition of the Willing, a group of around 30 countries committed to assisting Ukraine’s military. The coalition is exploring ways to provide expanded support — including the possibility of deploying troops to Ukraine once a ceasefire is in place.
Macron emphasized France’s role in uniting European and global partners, while Zelensky stressed the urgency of continued assistance as Ukraine’s forces remain under heavy strain from the prolonged conflict.
Officials noted that while direct deployment of foreign soldiers remains contingent on future peace agreements, the talks highlight a growing commitment to Ukraine’s defense and security.
