Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) did not hold back during his appearance on Hannity, sharply criticizing Democratic leaders for what he described as an “unhinged” response to the recent shooting at a Midtown Manhattan office building.

“The Democrats have just gone totally NUTS,” Cruz declared, accusing the party of using the tragedy for political leverage rather than focusing on real solutions to crime. The Texas senator argued that progressive policies—such as bail reform and defunding police movements—have emboldened criminals and weakened law enforcement’s ability to keep cities safe.

Cruz also took aim at what he called “knee-jerk” calls for stricter gun control, claiming that the focus should instead be on addressing mental health issues and enforcing existing laws.
