Secretary Doug Burgum revealed that the Trump administration is reviewing every offshore wind project across the country, citing concerns over costs to American consumers.
In an interview with Fox Business, Burgum criticized the financial burden tied to such projects. “Citizens have to pay for them twice because you’re paying for the tax subsidy… you’re also paying for it because these are the highest electric prices in the country coming off of these,” he said.
The comments underscore the administration’s skepticism toward large-scale renewable energy initiatives, with officials signaling a preference for energy policies they say will deliver lower costs and greater reliability for U.S. households.
The review comes amid growing debate over the future of renewable energy in America, as states along the East Coast and beyond push forward with ambitious offshore wind goals while critics question the economics behind them.
