Russia has successfully launched a Soyuz-2.1b rocket from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, delivering Iran’s Nahid-2 communications satellite into orbit alongside 18 additional small payloads.
According to Iranian media, the Nahid-2 satellite weighs 110 kilograms and is designed to operate in a 500-kilometer orbit above Earth. It is expected to function for approximately two years, providing communications capabilities and contributing to Iran’s growing presence in space.
The launch marks another example of deepening space cooperation between Russia and Iran, as Moscow continues to strengthen strategic ties with Tehran in various technological and defense-related sectors.
The mission also highlights Russia's ongoing commitment to commercial and international space launches despite increasing geopolitical tensions with the West.
