Newly released footage shows the tense moment two Delta Air Lines planes collided on the tarmac at New York’s LaGuardia Airport last week.
The video captures one aircraft’s wing clipping the tail of another while maneuvering near the gate area, causing visible damage but no reported injuries. Passengers aboard both planes described hearing a “loud thud” followed by an abrupt stop as ground crews rushed to assess the situation.
Delta officials confirmed that both planes were taken out of service for inspection and maintenance. The airline issued a statement apologizing to passengers for the disruption, emphasizing that safety remains its top priority.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the incident to determine whether ground control procedures or pilot communication errors contributed to the collision.
While no flights were canceled, several were delayed as crews cleared the area and ensured the runway’s safety. The footage has since circulated widely online, sparking renewed discussions about congestion and tight taxiway operations at major U.S. airports.
