A hit-and-run driver crashed into a child’s birthday party in Bladensburg, Maryland, on Saturday, injuring eleven people — including seven children, two of whom are in critical condition.

Authorities say the crash occurred when a vehicle veered off the road and slammed into a tent where families were gathered to celebrate. The impact sent partygoers scrambling for safety as debris scattered across the area.

Police confirmed that the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. A search is now underway to locate and arrest the suspect.

Emergency responders transported the injured to nearby hospitals, where several remain under treatment. Local officials have condemned the incident, calling it a “heartbreaking act of recklessness.”
