In a continuing operation against perpetrators of recent terror attacks, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) overnight demolished the home of Abd al-Rahim Himouni, a Hamas operative accused of assisting in the October 1 Tel Aviv shooting that left 7 dead and 16 others wounded.
The house, located in the West Bank city of Hebron, is the third residence linked to that attack to be razed by Israeli forces in recent weeks. The operation was carried out under heavy military presence amid growing tension in the area.
According to the IDF, Himouni played a critical role in enabling the Tel Aviv assault, which targeted civilians at a crowded urban site and was one of the deadliest in the country in recent memory.
“We are sending a clear message: Anyone who takes part in terrorism against Israeli citizens will be held accountable, and their support networks will be dismantled,” said an IDF spokesperson.
The demolition policy, widely criticized by human rights organizations as collective punishment, remains a core part of Israel's counterterrorism strategy. Israeli officials argue it serves as a deterrent against future attacks.
Tensions in the West Bank and Gaza remain high amid ongoing military operations, retaliatory strikes, and rising diplomatic strain.
