The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed it has carried out three waves of strikes in Gaza City, hitting more than 360 targets as part of its escalating military campaign against Hamas.

According to military officials, the IDF currently controls around 40% of Gaza City and has been targeting specific buildings believed to be used by Hamas for command and operational purposes. The military asserts that Hamas is embedding its infrastructure within civilian areas — a tactic Israel cites as justification for the strikes.

The IDF described its actions as necessary to dismantle Hamas’s military capabilities and to increase pressure ahead of the next phase of operations.

However, the strategy has drawn international concern, with critics warning of the devastating impact on civilians and raising allegations of disproportionate force. Some human rights organizations and foreign governments have pointed to the mounting civilian toll as evidence of potential war crimes, while Israel maintains it is acting within the framework of self-defense.

The ongoing campaign in Gaza City highlights both the intensity of Israel’s military push and the growing debate over the balance between counterterrorism efforts and humanitarian consequences.
