SYDNEY — Dramatic footage captured the moment a small plane crash-landed on the Mona Vale Golf Course in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
The Piper Cherokee light aircraft was on a training flight when it was forced to make an emergency landing around 2 p.m., according to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB). Both the instructor pilot and student escaped with only minor injuries.
Images from the scene showed the aircraft with a damaged wing and missing wheels, but emergency crews quickly secured the site. Authorities praised the swift response and adherence to emergency protocols, which helped prevent more serious consequences.
The ATSB has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the forced landing. Despite the dramatic crash, officials highlighted that the safety measures in place, along with the resilience of the aircraft’s design, played a key role in ensuring no fatalities occurred.
Golfers nearby were unharmed, and the golf course reopened later in the day.
