Authorities in Texas arrested a previously deported Mexican national after a high-speed chase ended with the discovery of nearly a dozen migrants packed into the bed of his truck.

The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Alejandro Ramirez Reyes, was taken into custody on charges of human smuggling and evading arrest. State troopers said Reyes attempted to flee but was caught after a pursuit. Inside the truck, officers found multiple undocumented migrants being transported illegally.

Records show Reyes has a prior criminal history. In 2022, he was arrested for distributing marijuana, served his sentence, and was deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). His re-entry into the United States and renewed involvement in criminal activity has raised concerns about border security enforcement.

Officials are now working to process the migrants found in the truck, while Reyes faces federal and state charges. Authorities say the case underscores the dangers of human smuggling operations, which often put lives at risk through unsafe transport and high-speed pursuits.
