President Donald J. Trump reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting Ukraine while emphasizing that the United States is now doing so under what he described as “a very good deal” that protects American interests.

During a White House meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump highlighted the new structure of U.S. aid to Kyiv — claiming that no American lives are being lost, and that the U.S. is being reimbursed for the weapons and equipment it provides.

“We’re not losing people, we’re not spending money, we’re getting paid for the ammunition and missiles and everything else,” Trump said. “And we’ve made a very good deal with NATO... that’s not what we’re in this for. We’re in it to save thousands of lives every week.”

The President’s remarks underscore a shift toward what he calls a “fair-share” approach within NATO, ensuring that European allies contribute more equally to defense and humanitarian efforts. Trump framed the U.S. strategy as one of efficiency and pragmatism — aiding Ukraine’s defense while minimizing American costs and risks.
