PORTO ALEGRE, BRAZIL — Legendary Brazilian skateboarder Sandro Dias has broken two Guinness World Records after skating down a towering 22-storey ramp from the Centro Administrativo Fernando Ferrari building.
The 55-year-old stunned spectators on Thursday, September 25, when he dropped into a temporary quarter pipe, setting new marks for both the tallest drop into a quarter pipe and the fastest speed achieved on one, reaching 103.8 kph.
Dias completed four successful runs during the event before delivering his record-setting performance, which lasted just eight seconds but pushed the boundaries of what seemed possible in extreme sports.
Reflecting on the feat, Dias said: “I knew it was possible, but almost impossible to actually pull off.”
Known as one of the pioneers of vertical skateboarding, Dias has now added yet another milestone to his storied career, cementing his place in skating history.
