Federal investigators have obtained new surveillance footage that may provide a critical lead in the disappearance of 84-year-old Arizona resident Nancy Guthrie, according to a report citing law enforcement sources. The video, recorded in the early morning hours of February 1, 2026, shows a man carrying a backpack similar to the one observed in earlier doorbell camera footage from Guthrie’s Tucson home.

The newly surfaced footage was captured approximately five miles from the residence at 1:52 a.m., placing the individual within the broader geographic area around the time authorities believe the abduction occurred. In the original home security recording, an armed and masked man was seen approaching Guthrie’s front door shortly before she vanished, raising immediate concerns of a targeted kidnapping.

Guthrie had been dropped off at her home by her son-in-law after a family dinner earlier that evening and was reported missing soon afterward when she failed to respond to calls and did not reappear. The doorbell footage became a focal point of the investigation, prompting a coordinated search effort and federal involvement.

Investigators are now working to determine whether the individual captured in the off-site surveillance video is the same person seen at Guthrie’s home. Analysts are expected to conduct comparative reviews of gait, clothing, backpack design, and movement patterns to establish a potential match. Law enforcement officials have not yet publicly confirmed the identity of the person in the video or announced any arrests.

The emergence of the additional footage expands the timeline and geographic scope of the investigation, offering a possible route of travel and suggesting the suspect may have moved through multiple areas following the incident. Such information is often used to reconstruct movements, identify vehicles, and locate additional cameras that could provide further visual evidence.

Authorities continue to urge the public to report any relevant information, emphasizing that even minor observations could prove significant in piecing together the sequence of events. The case remains active, with federal, state, and local agencies coordinating efforts to locate Guthrie and identify the individual seen in the surveillance recordings.

As the investigation develops, the new video evidence represents one of the most concrete leads to date, potentially narrowing the search and bringing investigators closer to determining what happened in the early hours of February 1.
