As the UK braces for soaring temperatures, polar bears at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster found the perfect way to stay cool — by taking a refreshing dip in their lake.

The playful swim took place on Sunday, August 10, as the park’s resident bears lounged, paddled, and splashed in the water to escape the heat.

Forecasters warn that temperatures could exceed 30°C in parts of the country by Monday, with a yellow health alert issued for the latest spell of exceptionally hot weather. Officials are advising the public to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and check in on vulnerable individuals.

While the heatwave poses challenges for humans, the park says its animals are well cared for, with access to shaded areas, water features, and cooling enrichment activities.
