Dramatic footage captured the moment more than 60 shipping containers toppled off a cargo ship at the Port of Long Beach on Wednesday morning.
According to port officials, the incident occurred shortly before 9 a.m., when containers slid from the vessel Mississippi and crashed into the water. The U.S. Coast Guard later confirmed that 67 containers were afloat in the harbor.
No injuries were reported, said Art Marroquin, spokesperson for the Port of Long Beach. Authorities have not yet released details on what caused the containers to fall, but crews are working to secure and recover the debris to avoid navigation hazards.
The incident has raised concerns about shipping safety and environmental risks, as some containers may contain hazardous materials or cargo that could spill into the water. The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the accident.
