Terrifying Moment: Leopard Leaps Over Liquor Store Counter and Mauls Worker in India

A dramatic and frightening encounter unfolded at a liquor store in Todaraisingh, India, when a leopard suddenly leaped over the counter and attacked employee Sanjay Gurjar. The wild animal grabbed onto Gurjar with its sharp claws, causing injuries to his hand, shoulder, and nose. In a remarkable display of quick thinking and courage, Gurjar managed to push the leopard away and escape.

Gurjar ran toward the exit and pulled down the shutter door, successfully trapping the leopard inside the store. Recounting the terrifying ordeal, he said, “I somehow pushed the leopard away and ran towards the exit… As I ran, I pulled the shutter down. Then I lost consciousness.” His fast actions prevented further harm and allowed authorities time to respond.

The same leopard had attacked a volunteer forest worker earlier that morning. Wildlife specialists eventually tranquilized the animal after the incidents. This rare urban wildlife encounter highlights the ongoing challenges of human-animal conflict in parts of India, where leopards occasionally venture into populated areas.
