NEW DELHI — India successfully launched a groundbreaking $1.5 billion radar imaging satellite developed in partnership with NASA, marking a significant milestone in international climate cooperation.

The satellite, designed to monitor climate change and natural disasters, will enhance global Earth observation capabilities. Built jointly by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and NASA, it features advanced dual-frequency synthetic aperture radar technology, allowing it to track changes in ice sheets, deforestation, flooding, and other environmental shifts in real time.

The mission reflects growing collaboration between the United States and India on space-based climate initiatives and positions both nations as leaders in addressing planetary-scale threats.
