A brazen overnight burglary in Anaheim, California, resulted in the theft of approximately $180,000 worth of Pokémon cards, police reported. Surveillance footage shows four suspects breaking into a neighboring business and tunneling through a wall to access DOWE Collectibles in the 1100 block of North Harbor Boulevard.

The break-in occurred between 3 a.m. Tuesday and early Wednesday morning. Anaheim Police Department investigators said the suspects first forced entry into a nearby insurance office before using a sledgehammer to breach a shared drywall, gaining entry to the collectibles store. Video obtained by KTLA shows the suspects moving quickly through the store, targeting display cases filled with high-value trading cards before fleeing in a dark-colored sedan.

Store owner Duy Pham, who was asleep in Corona, was alerted to the break-in via his phone. “I clicked on the footage and saw guys coming through the hole,” he said. “My heart was pounding. I called 911 right away and rushed over here.” Pham noted that the thieves ignored electronics and other valuables, focusing exclusively on collectible cards, some of which are valued at thousands of dollars.

The thieves were inside the store for only five to seven minutes but managed to clear out display cases and steal over 500 cards. The rising market value of rare Pokémon cards has made specialty shops increasingly attractive targets, Pham explained. “One card can be worth up to $10,000,” he said. “People see the money is there.”

Pham also remarked that break-ins and robberies targeting trading cards have become more frequent, leaving shop owners feeling vulnerable despite security measures. “We kind of expected something like this sooner or later,” he said.

Police confirmed that detectives are actively following leads, but no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
