A private twin-engine aircraft carrying three individuals crashed into the ocean off California’s central coast late Saturday night, prompting a large-scale search and rescue operation by federal and local agencies.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the crash occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. approximately 200 to 300 yards off Point Pinos, near the town of Pacific Grove. The plane had departed from San Carlos Airport and was en route to Monterey Regional Airport when it went down for reasons still under investigation.

Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene, and the Coast Guard launched air and maritime search operations throughout the night and into Sunday morning. Debris was reportedly found floating in the water, but as of the latest update, no survivors or bodies have been recovered.

The identities of the individuals onboard have not yet been released, and authorities are working with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to determine the cause of the crash.

The incident has raised renewed concerns about flight safety in the region, especially during night conditions over coastal waters. Officials have asked the public to avoid the area while rescue efforts continue.
