Ukrainian Drones Slam Russia’s Last Black Sea Fleet Base in Fiery Night Raid

Dramatic nighttime video footage captured Russian air defenses firing heavily into the sky over Novorossiysk as Ukrainian forces launched a coordinated assault with drones and missiles. Tracers and explosions lit up the darkness while Ukrainian operators targeted the strategic port city more than 300 kilometers from the frontline. Novorossiysk serves as Russia’s primary remaining Black Sea Fleet base and a major hub for oil and grain exports, making it a high-value target. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the operation succeeded in striking naval infrastructure, air defense positions, and piers. The attack demonstrated Ukraine’s growing ability to reach deep into Russian territory with domestically produced systems.

Ukrainian forces employed Palianytsia jet-powered drones alongside Neptune missiles and unmanned naval systems to hit designated military and port facilities. Zelenskyy described the mission as a unique operation against the last major stronghold of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea. Confirmed hits on air defenses and seaport infrastructure underscored the precision and reach of Ukraine’s long-range capabilities. The assault comes amid ongoing efforts to degrade Russia’s ability to project naval power and sustain its war economy through Black Sea exports. Such deep strikes continue to pressure Moscow by exposing vulnerabilities far from the battlefield.

Russian officials reported one child killed, multiple injuries, and debris damage to homes and terminals following the intense air defense activity. Local authorities described falling wreckage affecting residential areas and industrial sites while claiming their systems intercepted numerous incoming threats. Despite these reports, the Ukrainian operation focused on military and logistical targets critical to Russia’s Black Sea operations. The heavy defensive fire visible in videos highlighted the scale of the challenge faced by Russian forces protecting their remaining fleet assets. This latest strike reinforces Ukraine’s determination to keep Russian naval and export infrastructure under constant threat.
