FDNY Fire Marshals have arrested 21-year-old Dominick Sacchetti in connection with a fire at a Staten Island ShopRite on November 26th, which occurred during the busy Thanksgiving shopping rush. Sacchetti, an employee of the supermarket, is accused of intentionally starting the blaze on a shelf containing paper goods, according to authorities.

Surveillance footage reviewed by Fire Marshals reportedly shows Sacchetti igniting the fire, which quickly spread and caused an estimated $100,000 in damages. At the time, the store was crowded with shoppers preparing for the holiday. A quick-thinking customer used a fire extinguisher to temporarily control the flames before FDNY units arrived and fully extinguished the fire.

Sacchetti has been charged with arson, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and intent to damage property. The incident highlights the potential dangers posed by negligent or malicious actions in high-traffic public spaces, especially during peak holiday periods when crowds are large.
