According to U.S. Southern Command, American Marines and sailors launched from the USS Gerald R. Ford, operating in the Caribbean, to apprehend the tanker Veronica. The vessel was intercepted after authorities determined it was operating in direct violation of President Trump’s established quarantine on sanctioned oil shipments in the region.
