A Beech B200 Super King Air was forced to make an emergency landing at Birmingham Airport earlier today after experiencing a serious mechanical failure shortly after takeoff. The aircraft, which was scheduled to fly to Belfast, had to return to the airport and land without fully deploying its landing gear, causing it to skid across the runway.
Frightening Moments Mid-Air
According to initial reports, shortly after departing, the pilot detected a malfunction with the aircraft’s landing gear system. Emergency protocols were initiated, and air traffic control cleared the aircraft for an immediate return. Emergency response teams were placed on high alert.
Eyewitnesses at the airport described the tense moment as the plane touched down on the tarmac, its fuselage scraping the runway in a dramatic but controlled emergency landing.
“You could see sparks flying as the plane hit the runway,” said one airport worker. “It was terrifying to watch, but the pilot handled it like a pro.”
