Hezbollah’s deputy leader, Sheikh Naim Qassem, declared that the group will never surrender its weapons and is ready to confront the Lebanese government if challenged.
In a fiery speech, Qassem warned that Hezbollah is fully prepared to escalate tensions, even threatening to march on the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon. “We will not abandon our arms, and we are ready for any battle,” he said, signaling defiance amid growing domestic and international pressure.
The remarks raise fears of further instability in Lebanon, a nation already gripped by political paralysis and economic collapse. Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has long been one of the most powerful factions in the country, often clashing with calls for disarmament.
Qassem’s threat against the U.S. Embassy underscores the widening rift between Hezbollah and Western powers, as well as its potential to drag Lebanon deeper into regional tensions. Observers warn that such rhetoric risks provoking confrontation both inside the country and beyond.
