Residents of Treasure Beach, Jamaica faced the full force of Hurricane Melissa’s approach on October 28, 2025, as powerful winds and torrential rain lashed the southern coast. Footage captured the roar of outer-band winds tearing through the area, bending palm trees, scattering debris, and reducing visibility to near zero.

The storm’s outer circulation began sweeping across the island late Monday, bringing sustained gusts that shook buildings and forced residents indoors. Local authorities urged communities along Jamaica’s southern and eastern shores to remain alert and avoid travel as the storm’s core edges closer to the island.

Meteorologists report that Melissa—now a major hurricane—continues moving through the Caribbean with sustained winds exceeding 120 mph, capable of producing life-threatening storm surges and flash flooding in low-lying areas.

Emergency crews remain on standby as conditions deteriorate, with Jamaica’s disaster agency warning that the storm’s most dangerous impacts may still be ahead as Melissa’s eye passes near or over the island’s southern coast.
