A late-night street takeover in Queens exploded into violence early Sunday when a mob attacked a local couple and set their vehicle on fire, witnesses and video show.
Dozens of reckless drivers reportedly swarmed South Drive and 141st Street in the Malba neighborhood around 12:30 a.m., performing loud stunts, doing donuts, and tearing across residential lawns. When residents attempted to intervene and stop the chaos, a crowd turned on one couple, beating them before torching their car.
Footage from the scene shows flames engulfing the vehicle as bystanders shouted and recorded the incident, while the mob continued to block streets and damage property.
Locals say these street takeover-style meet-ups have become increasingly frequent and dangerous—leaving neighborhoods feeling abandoned, unsafe, and ignored by the city.
Police are investigating the attack and the arson, but no arrests have been announced.
