WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan delivered a blistering critique of Illinois officials, accusing them of endangering public safety by shielding undocumented immigrants with criminal backgrounds.
“Governor Pritzker protects criminal, illegal alien public safety threats every day in that state, along with Mayor Johnson,” Homan said. “We’re at war with the criminal cartels and those who want to murder and rape American citizens — you’re damn right.”
Homan’s remarks reflect the administration’s hard-line stance on border security and immigration enforcement, framing the issue as a direct threat to American communities. His comments come amid heightened debate between federal officials and state leaders over sanctuary policies and local cooperation with immigration authorities.
Illinois leaders, including Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, have defended their policies as necessary to protect immigrant communities and build trust with law enforcement, while critics argue such measures hinder federal efforts to remove dangerous individuals.
