A Japanese technology company has unveiled a futuristic device that blends luxury, wellness, and advanced engineering — at a price few can afford.

At Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai, Science Inc. introduced the “Mirai Human Washing Machine,” a capsule-like system designed to fully envelop a person while using water, visual stimulation, and biometric monitoring to create what the company describes as a complete cleansing experience for both body and mind.

The machine surrounds the user in a transparent, bubble-shaped enclosure that fills with warm water while displaying calming visuals tailored to the individual. Sensors track vital signs such as heart rate, allowing the system to adjust lighting and imagery in real time to promote relaxation and mental clarity.

Science Inc. says the concept goes beyond hygiene, aiming to reduce stress and enhance emotional well-being through a controlled, immersive environment. The device reflects Japan’s long-standing interest in combining technology with wellness and personalized care.

Production will be extremely limited. The company plans to manufacture only 50 units, each priced at approximately £288,000, or about $383,000. The machines are expected to be marketed primarily to luxury facilities, wellness centers, and private collectors rather than the general public.

While the price places it far outside everyday use, the Mirai Human Washing Machine has drawn attention as one of Expo 2025’s most striking examples of how technology is being reimagined to address comfort, mental health, and lifestyle experiences.
