Israeli President Isaac Herzog said that Iran has been “spreading terror” for years and cast the ongoing U.S.–Israeli military campaign against Tehran as a strategic moment that could inspire political change within Iran. Speaking in a public address, Herzog framed the strikes as more than a military operation — he described them as a “golden opportunity for the people of Iran to rise up” against the ruling regime. 

Herzog stressed that Iran’s behavior over decades — including support for proxy groups, regional destabilization, and threats against Israel — amounts to a pattern of terror that has endangered not only Israel but stability across the Middle East and beyond. By linking the current military pressure on Iran’s leadership to a possible opening for internal dissent, he suggested that the strikes could accelerate a shift toward freedom and change inside the country. 

“We are doing this for the wellbeing of the entire free world,” Herzog said, appealing to both domestic and international audiences. His remarks underscore Israel’s narrative that the campaign against Iran is not only defensive but also tied to broader values of freedom and resistance to oppression.
