Israeli authorities have cleared for publication a striking espionage case involving an Israeli citizen who once served in a classified IDF unit, now formally indicted on charges of spying for Iran. According to a joint statement from the Israel Police, the Defense Ministry, and the Shin Bet, the man completed both his mandatory and reserve service in the sensitive unit before allegedly falling into contact with a person identifying himself as an Iranian intelligence operative. Security officials reiterated their standing warning to the public: any contact with unidentified foreign nationals or suspicious online contacts tied to enemy states can itself constitute a crime, even before any information changes hands.
