Former National Security Council Chief of Staff Fred Fleitz has weighed in on the aftermath of the Trump-Putin summit in Alaska, warning that any potential visit by President Donald Trump to Moscow would come with significant consequences.

Speaking in an interview, Fleitz said the Alaska talks marked an important step toward exploring an end to the war in Ukraine, but cautioned that Russia will likely seek major concessions in return for further negotiations.

“Trump should visit Moscow, but there’s going to be a price,” Fleitz noted, suggesting that Russian President Vladimir Putin will use the opportunity to press for recognition of territorial gains and limitations on NATO expansion.

The warning highlights the delicate balancing act facing Trump as he attempts to advance diplomacy without undermining U.S. alliances or Ukraine’s sovereignty. While the Alaska summit produced an “understanding” between the two leaders, details remain unclear and much will depend on follow-up meetings.
