Cambridgeshire Police released dramatic bodycam footage showing officers catching a suspected drink-driver snoring loudly while asleep at the wheel of a Mercedes van.

Police responded after a witness reported seeing a man stumble into the vehicle and drive off before stopping in the middle of the road. Inside, officers found 36-year-old Scott Tuite of Baumgartner, Godmanchester, audibly snoring with the engine running. Officers quickly removed the keys and woke him up.

Tuite was arrested after failing to provide a breath specimen. At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He was handed a 12-month community order, required to complete 80 hours of unpaid work, and disqualified from driving.

Police say the case highlights the dangers of driving under the influence and the importance of public vigilance in reporting suspected offenders.
