Insane Escape Attempt: Suspect Swan Dives Off Bridge During High-Speed Police Chase
A wild police pursuit in Stone County, Missouri, ended in a shocking scene when suspect Gavin Thor Lundgren jumped headfirst off a bridge to escape authorities. The chase began after deputies attempted to pull over Lundgren for allegedly driving 75 mph in a 45 mph zone. Instead of complying, he pulled into a parking lot, circled the building, and sped off, leading officers on a high-speed chase.
Lundgren drove to a bridge, opened his car door while it was still moving, got out, and swan-dived off the side. Officers looked over the edge and later discovered his driver’s license left behind in the passenger seat of the abandoned vehicle. They eventually tracked him down near the shoreline, where he resisted arrest and headbutted officers, leaving three with scrapes and facial lacerations.
Lundgren now faces serious charges, including aggravated fleeing a stop, third-degree assault, and two counts of fourth-degree assault. The incident highlights the dangers police officers face during pursuits and the unpredictable actions suspects sometimes take to avoid capture. Authorities remind drivers that evading law enforcement only leads to more severe consequences.
