BUENA PARK, CA — A thrill ride at Knott’s Berry Farm came to an unexpected stop once again, leaving guests suspended high in the air on Thursday. The Sol Spin, a rotating pendulum-style attraction, stalled mid-cycle, forcing riders to hang in their seats as park staff responded.
Parkgoers say the ride was in full motion when it suddenly froze, trapping guests at a steep angle. Some were dangling dozens of feet in the air, with their legs swinging freely. While no injuries were reported, many on board described the experience as frightening and frustrating.
This isn’t the first time Sol Spin has experienced problems. In November 2023, AIR7 HD captured dramatic footage of the same ride stuck for over two hours, sparking a wave of concern over its safety.
Park officials have not yet commented on the cause of Thursday's malfunction, but the ride was temporarily closed while technicians conducted a safety inspection. Guests were eventually safely escorted off the ride.
Many visitors are now calling for more transparency and routine inspections, especially for high-intensity attractions.
