China has revealed what analysts describe as a near-identical copy of the American-made HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System), a highly effective weapon used extensively in modern conflicts.
The system, mounted on a truck platform like its U.S. counterpart, appears designed to provide rapid mobility and long-range precision strikes. Military experts say the development underscores Beijing’s ongoing efforts to replicate and compete with advanced Western weapons technology.
The American HIMARS has become one of the most influential battlefield systems in Ukraine, where it has been used to destroy Russian ammunition depots, command centers, and logistics hubs. China’s version could signal its intent to strengthen rocket artillery capabilities while sending a geopolitical message about its ability to match U.S. innovations.
Analysts caution, however, that the Chinese copy’s effectiveness remains unproven until tested in combat.
