Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak announced in Damascus that Moscow and Damascus are entering a “new phase” in bilateral relations, with expanded cooperation across several key sectors, including economy, construction, healthcare, and agriculture.

Novak’s visit comes amid a series of high-level exchanges between Russian and Syrian officials aimed at strengthening long-term ties. Recently, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met in Moscow, where both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in infrastructure, energy, and defense projects.

The latest talks underscore Russia’s role as a crucial partner for Syria, particularly as Damascus continues efforts to rebuild from years of conflict. For Moscow, the partnership highlights its strategic presence in the Middle East, combining political, economic, and security dimensions.

Observers note that the renewed push for cooperation may signal a deepening alliance as both countries look to expand joint ventures and bolster their regional influence.
