The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) San Diego Air and Marine Branch intercepted a 30-foot panga boat carrying 13 illegal aliens off the coast of San Diego on Sunday night.

According to officials, the vessel was non-compliant and ignored commands to stop. Agents used disabling fire to halt the boat before taking the individuals into federal custody.

CBP emphasized that such operations highlight its zero-tolerance stance against smugglers, reaffirming that law enforcement will continue to act decisively against maritime smuggling attempts.

The 13 individuals aboard are now in federal custody as the investigation proceeds.
