“I’m grateful everyone is alive,” said Thomas Simpson, a Texas man shot by police after officers mistakenly responded to the wrong address.

The incident unfolded in Grand Prairie when officers arrived at Simpson’s home after a 911 caller’s cellphone address was incorrectly auto-populated in the dispatch system.

According to police, Simpson exited his garage, assumed an aggressive stance, and pointed a gun at officers before being shot. He later stated that he never heard officers announce themselves before the confrontation.

Authorities confirmed that Simpson survived the shooting. The department acknowledged the dispatch error and said the incident is under internal review.

The case has sparked questions about emergency response accuracy and communication, with Simpson expressing relief that the situation, while serious, was not fatal for anyone involved.
