KYIV — Ukrainian operatives carried out coordinated sabotage attacks deep inside Russian territory, derailing two trains and killing at least three Russian soldiers, according to a Ukrainian military source.

One of the trains came off the tracks near Saint Petersburg, killing the driver. A second freight train, reportedly carrying empty fuel tanks, was also derailed in the same region. The strikes mark one of Kyiv’s boldest operations yet behind enemy lines, as the war enters a new phase of unconventional and covert tactics.

Ukraine’s intelligence services have increasingly turned to sabotage missions aimed at disrupting Russian supply chains and undermining Moscow’s ability to sustain its war effort. Russian authorities have not publicly confirmed Ukraine’s involvement, though reports of train derailments circulated quickly across local media.

The attacks highlight both the vulnerability of Russian logistics and the willingness of Ukrainian operatives to strike far from the frontlines. Analysts say such missions are designed to strain Russia’s military infrastructure while signaling Kyiv’s reach deep inside enemy territory.
