Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) criticized Obamacare as failing to deliver on its promises, speaking candidly on “The Will Cain Show” about the recent government shutdown and rising healthcare costs.

“How can you address affordability?… What will you say to voters about the rising price of healthcare?” asked host Will Cain.

“I’ll say if we learned anything through this intergalactic freak show shutdown, we learned that Obamacare is not working,” Kennedy replied. “We were promised if we got it, premiums would go down and insurance would be more accessible. It’s been neither. We were promised our lives would be better. Our lives are worse. We need to FIX it.”

Kennedy compared the law to “putting fresh paint on rotten wood,” underscoring his argument that superficial fixes cannot solve fundamental flaws in the healthcare system. He highlighted the disconnect between the promises made to Americans and the reality they are facing today, emphasizing the urgent need for reform.

The Louisiana senator’s remarks reflect growing Republican frustration with Obamacare, which critics argue has increased costs and limited choices rather than providing the promised relief to American families. Kennedy’s message is a call to action for lawmakers to pursue meaningful healthcare reform that truly addresses affordability and accessibility for all Americans.
