Four teenagers are dead after a high-speed police chase in Chicago ended when their vehicle careened off a bridge and slammed into a parked freight train car early Wednesday morning. Chicago police say the pursuit began around 2 a.m. after officers responded to a report that someone inside a vehicle had pointed a gun at another driver. When officers located the car and attempted a traffic stop, the driver sped off instead of pulling over, setting off a chase through the city's streets.

During the pursuit, police say the driver lost control of the vehicle, sending it off a bridge and into a nearby train yard, where it collided with a stationary freight car. Three of the four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth, a young woman, was rushed to a hospital in critical condition before later succumbing to her injuries. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has since identified the deceased as Cristofer Lopez Montan, 19, Yuarem Garcia-Pena, 18, Yaritza Martinez Villeda, 17, and Vanessa Morales, 14.
