Dashcam Captures Terrifying Road Rage Chase in Reverse for Over a Mile

Newly released dashcam footage shows a terrifying road rage pursuit in Beaverton, Oregon, where a driver chased a couple through traffic, including in reverse for more than a mile. Police say 29-year-old Arman K. Hastings drove into oncoming lanes, intentionally cut off the victim's vehicle, and pursued the couple in reverse during the incident on the morning of July 26. The rear camera footage captures the moment the victim spots Hastings closing in behind them, exclaiming "Oh, here he comes... driving in reverse" as the pursuit continued.

Throughout the chase, the victim told police that Hastings repeatedly reached toward his coat in a way that made the couple believe he might be armed. Rather than pull over or confront the driver, the couple made the decision to call 911 and drive directly to the Beaverton Police Department, a move that allowed officers to quickly locate and arrest Hastings without incident. During the arrest, officers searched Hastings and found a black airsoft handgun in his jacket pocket, confirming the couple's fears that he may have been reaching for a weapon during the pursuit.

Hastings was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of reckless driving and menacing following the incident, and police say the investigation remains ongoing. Beaverton police released the footage publicly to highlight the dangers of aggressive and reckless driving, noting that the couple's calm decision-making, staying on the phone with 911 and heading straight to a police station rather than stopping, likely prevented the confrontation from escalating further. Investigators are asking anyone with additional information about the incident, or about similar past encounters involving Hastings, to come forward.
